The nature of the candles from the temperature changes and the denseness of beeswax may cause cracks on the top. There are no functional problems.
I was talking aloud about these flaws and figuring how to fix them. My sweet daughter then schooled me on a Japanese philosophy called: Wabi Sabi. I literally cried when she told me.
Wabi-sabi is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It is about the aesthetic of things in existence, that are “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. To honor this philosophy they practice Kintsugi.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.
This was so profoundly beautiful. I decided to honor the nature of the cracks in the candles as its own unique story. A beautiful reminder to love yourself just as you are, in every stage of life.
